About this colour
Vermillion is a brilliant, warm red-orange - a modern, lightfast take on the legendary historic pigment. It captures the classic vermilion character: bright, hot, and unapologetically vibrant, without the lightfastness concerns of the original mercury-based pigment.
Warmer and more orange than Scarlet Lake, Vermillion sits at the very edge of the red-orange boundary - it is the colour of traditional lacquerware, Chinese New Year lanterns, and the warmest sun-kissed terracotta. In thin washes it delivers a glowing, almost luminous warmth; at full strength it is bold and striking.

Why choose tubes?
Watercolour tubes contain more glycerine binder than pans, giving the paint a soft, creamy texture that mixes instantly with water. A small amount from the tube goes a very long way - making tubes ideal for large washes and expressive, generous brushwork.
Leave it to dry - reactivate anytime
Squeeze out what you need and leave the rest on your palette. When the paint dries, simply mist with a little water and it reactivates fully - as workable as when it was first squeezed. No cleaning needed between sessions, and nothing is ever wasted.
Refill your pans
Use tubes to top up empty half- or full-pans in your travel or studio palette. Squeeze into the pan, let the paint cure for a few days, and you have freshly loaded pans ready for use - far more economical than buying replacement pans.
