About this colour
Scarlet Lake is a vivid, fiery red with a warm orange bias - the boldest and most saturated of the reds in the Verdant range. It achieves the most intense, pure red-orange available in a transparent watercolour - the colour of poppies, fresh blood oranges, and blazing autumn berries.
Its warm yellow lean sets it apart from the cooler, more violet Crimson Lake, and makes it the essential red for anyone painting warm sunlit reds, autumn foliage, glowing sunsets, and richly coloured fruits and flowers. Scarlet Lake handles washes with exceptional clarity, retaining its fire even when heavily diluted.

Why choose tubes?
Watercolour tubes contain more glycerine binder than pans, giving the paint a soft, creamy texture that mixes instantly with water. A small amount from the tube goes a very long way - making tubes ideal for large washes and expressive, generous brushwork.
Leave it to dry - reactivate anytime
Squeeze out what you need and leave the rest on your palette. When the paint dries, simply mist with a little water and it reactivates fully - as workable as when it was first squeezed. No cleaning needed between sessions, and nothing is ever wasted.
Refill your pans
Use tubes to top up empty half- or full-pans in your travel or studio palette. Squeeze into the pan, let the paint cure for a few days, and you have freshly loaded pans ready for use - far more economical than buying replacement pans.
