About this colour
Garnet Lake is a deep, wine-dark red with a cool, slightly blue undertone - the colour of aged claret, dark garnets, and shadowed burgundy velvet. Formulated with Perylene Maroon (PR179) and Quinacridone Violet (PV19), it achieves a rare combination of depth, transparency, and jewel-like luminosity.
Unlike the brighter reds of the range, Garnet Lake sits in darker, more complex territory - it is a red that has already been deepened by shadow, making it invaluable for rich, moody subject matter. In thin washes it glows like stained glass; in full concentration it achieves an almost black-red depth that is extraordinarily powerful.
An essential addition to any serious palette for anyone painting roses, dark wine, rich textiles, or complex portrait shadows. It mixes with Prussian Blue for the deepest, most sophisticated shadow tones imaginable.

Why choose tubes?
Watercolour tubes contain more glycerine binder than pans, giving the paint a soft, creamy texture that mixes instantly with water. A small amount from the tube goes a very long way - making tubes ideal for large washes and expressive, generous brushwork.
Leave it to dry - reactivate anytime
Squeeze out what you need and leave the rest on your palette. When the paint dries, simply mist with a little water and it reactivates fully - as workable as when it was first squeezed. No cleaning needed between sessions, and nothing is ever wasted.
Refill your pans
