About this colour
Cobalt Blue is the classic blue of the artist's palette - a pure, balanced, neither-warm-nor-cool blue that has been the golden standard for painters since the 19th century. Formulated with cobalt aluminate (PB28), it is one of the most dependable, versatile, and universally beloved blues in watercolour.
Unlike Prussian Blue's greenish lean or Ultramarine's violet warmth, Cobalt sits precisely in the centre of the blue spectrum - making it the most natural-looking and easiest-to-mix of all the blues. It is slightly granulating, lending softness and luminosity to sky and water washes, and it lifts cleanly from paper, making it ideal for wet-on-wet and correction-heavy techniques.

Why choose tubes?
Watercolour tubes contain more glycerine binder than pans, giving the paint a soft, creamy texture that mixes instantly with water. A small amount from the tube goes a very long way - making tubes ideal for large washes and expressive, generous brushwork.
Leave it to dry - reactivate anytime
Squeeze out what you need and leave the rest on your palette. When the paint dries, simply mist with a little water and it reactivates fully - as workable as when it was first squeezed. No cleaning needed between sessions, and nothing is ever wasted.
Refill your pans
Use tubes to top up empty half- or full-pans in your travel or studio palette. Squeeze into the pan, let the paint cure for a few days, and you have freshly loaded pans ready for use - far more economical than buying replacement pans.
